About Counselling
Counselling is a process, and being here is the first step.
Where do we begin?
We would begin with either a free 20 minute phonecall to get an initial understanding of what you are looking for and how I can help, or if you prefer you can book straight in for a 50 assessment, where you can share what is going on for you and we can talk about what you would like to change. This could be a specific goal e.g. 'I would like to be able to go to a social event and stay for 30 minutes' or something more general such as 'I want to improve my self care' or 'I want to set boundaries in my relationships'.
How and when?
We would also look at the terms of working and agree on the frequency and timing of sessions. Would you like to meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly? Do you prefer to meet in person, or online, or a mix of both?
Stages of therapy:
Once we have agreed your goals and the arrangements for sessions, we can get into the work itself. Everyone's journey is different, however you may find yourself going through the following stages:
-
Storytelling - sharing your story and agreeing goals for therapy
-
Insight and awareness - starting to identify patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours
-
Working through - going deeper and working through feelings that emerge
-
Redecision - a turning point; now that you have the awareness, how can we turn that into the change you need?
-
Ending - reflections and how to move forwards
Practical information:

Fees are £45 for an online session or £55 for an in person session.
